Custom Tumbler Printing

Did you know that the ‘tumbler’ got its name in the 17th century because it used to come with a rounded base? Whenever people tried to set it on the table, it would tumble off. Hence, its name ‘tumbler’ is so similar to the word ‘tumble’.

The versatility of tumblers because of its many functions make them extremely useful. Not only do they look sleek and stylish, they are also great for maintaining the temperature of your beverage. Imagine a cold drink that remains cool on a hot and humid day! We also offer a similar product in the form of mugs here, if you want something with a handle.

Knowing its many uses, tumblers can prove to be a great corporate or promotional gift. Simply through custom tumbler printing, we can help print your company’s logo or motifs onto the tumbler.

Type of Tumbler Printing Method

UV Printing

As you can deduce from the name, UV Printing uses ultraviolet (UV) light to dry the ink as it is printed onto the material. Hence, in the video on the right, you will notice that the UV light follows the printing mechanism. This means that as the design is printed, it dries almost immediately. The result is also a weather-resistant design that is more durable. Further, it is also more environmentally friendly than other printing methods since it releases less toxic gases into the surroundings.

Fun fact: gel manicures also use the same mechanism.

Silk Screen Printing

Unlike using machinery to print, silk screen printing uses more manual methods. The stencil is customized according to the intended design and ink is then pushed into the stencil to print the design onto the tumbler. This makes silk screen printing more suitable for monocolour or simpler designs as a different stencil has to be created for every colour, making it costly.

We’ve written a page that elaborates more on the silk screen printing process and you can read it here.

Roller Printing

Roller printing is similar to silk screen printing in the sense that a stencil is used in both cases. However, unlike silk screen printing, it is able to produce multi-coloured designs. Further, printing can also be done end to end on the curved surface of the mugs.

Pad Printing

Pad printing refers to the process whereby a design is transferred by stamping a silicon stamp (pad) onto 3-dimensional products that can be difficult to print on (in this case, tumblers).

The process can be understood in 2 steps – 1) from the plate to the pad 2) the pad to the product.  Your design is first etched onto a metal or plastic plate. The pad then picks up the ink on the plate and transfers it onto the product that you wish to print on.

Hence, the process is also known as ‘1 Colour Pad Printing’ because the pad only picks up a singular colour from the plate. This also means that different designs would require a different metal or plastic plate, increasing costs.

Paper Printing

This tumbler printing technique is unique to double walled plastic tumblers. The design is printed on paper before it is slotted through the 2 plastic walls of the tumbler. Given that the wall is see-through, the design can shine through clearly.

Type of Tumblers

The tumblers we offer are sorted into plastic or stainless steel tumblers.

Plastic Tumbler or Stainless Steel Tumbler?

Choosing between plastic or stainless steel tumblers can be difficult. Hence, we’ve helped you weigh the pros and cons of each material so you can best choose one that suits your needs!

Weight

Plastic tumblers are lighter than stainless steel ones. This means that it’s more convenient to carry plastic tumblers around and are unlikely to weigh your back down. Further, because of its light weight, they are also safer. Therefore, children or the aged will not injure themselves if the plastic tumbler slip from their hands..

Durability

On the other hand, the weight of stainless steel tumblers contributes to their durability. This means that you can readily bring stainless steel tumblers around for travel trips without worrying about their sturdiness.

Insulation

Metals are typically better heat conductors or insulators than plastic. Hence, your hot drinks are better at keeping warm and your cold drinks, cool when stored in stainless steel tumblers. This can be a large factor of consideration if you use tumblers to bring piping hot coffee into the cold office or if you are travelling to a country with a cold climate.

However, not to worry if you like the light weight characteristic of plastic tumblers but also want the insulation ability of steel ones. We also offer double-walled plastic tumblers. These tumblers are double layered, sheltering your beverage from external conditions. Further, it is more slip proof since condensation will only collect in the inner wall and not the outer.
